For first time entrants to the Premier League, Huddersfield Town have had a good run so far in the 2017-18 season, losing just one game from the six they have played and positioned themselves well within the top half of the EPL Table as a result. David Wagner’s Terriers played out a stoic 0-0 draw away at the Turf Moor last weekend hogging equal ball-possession with rivals, Burnley. The Clarets who are so good in their home turf were restricted to just 2 touches inside the Huddersfield box, thanks to some excellent defensive work by the Terriers’ center-back Christopher Schindler. Hudderfield will need to produce the same kind of exemplary stuff at the back when they run into a rampaging Harry Kane & Co. at the John Smith’s stadium on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs showed fighting qualities when they managed to emerge 2-3 winners at the London after being down to 10 men in the 70th minute against a determined West Ham side on Saturday.Harry Kane was at his opportunistic best scoring a brace in the game and is most likely to find the back of the net at the John Smith’s this weekend. Del Alli, Christian Eriksen and Ben Davies, too, have been electrifying upfront and it’s difficult to see even the efficient back quartet of Schindler, Tommy Smith, Mathias Jorgensen and Chris Löwe keeping the Spurs attack at Bay.The Tottenham back-line, too, have been superb of late with the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Serge Aurier doing stellar work at the defense. Aurier , out for the next three games owing to a red card earned in the West Ham clash, will probably make way for the 20-year old Kyle Walker-Peters at the back.
The Huddersfield attack led by Laurent Depoitre, Tom Ince and Steve Mounie will have to produce something special given that they haven’t been exactly among the goals of late (just 2 from their last five games).
Tottenham players will be a bit weary after a tough mid-week UEFA Champions League outing in faraway Nicosia with APOEL, but this will in no way affect their chances in the weekend Premier League clash with Huddersfield. Bookmakers are heavily favoring a win for the visitors at the John Smith stadium on Saturday, September 30th. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are likely to collect three comfortable points from the game and cement their position in the Top 4 of the table.
Tottenham Hotspur win: 4/11
Huddersfield Town win: 17/2
