Arsenal Vs. Cardiff City Football Match – 01.01.2014- Premier League- Match Preview, Prediction, Tips and Squad

Arsene Wenger will be hoping his side can continue their two-match win streak and prove their three-game winless run in December was a mere blip.

Arsenal has an unbeaten record in their last 12 matches against Cardiff City, having won 7 and drawing 5. Cardiff’s last win with Arsenal was back in 1961, when they triumphed 2-3.

David Kerslake will be the man in charge of Cardiff again following the discharge of Malky Mackay.

Possible Lineups:

Arsenal line-up: Szczesny; Gibbs, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Sagna; Arteta, Flamini, Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott; Giroud

Cardiff line-up: Marshall; John, Caulker, Turner, Theophile-Catherine; Medel, Whittingham, Kim, Mutch, Noone; Campbell

Prediction: When the two teams met earlier this season, Arsenal ran out 3-0 winners at the Cardiff City Stadium. Cardiff will need to pull a miracle in order to get three points from the gunners this week and it will be a rough one to even get a point off the league leaders. To be honest I can’t see Cardiff winning this match and my predictions are for Arsenal taking the win.

Prediction: Arsenal wins 2-1

racism1sr 300x174 Platini Demands for an UEFA investigation into the CSKA Moscow Shouting

Michel Platini has requested a UEFA investigation after CSKA Moscow’s game with Manchester City continued despite alleged racist chanting.

City midfielder Yaya Toure claimed he was exposed to abusive shouting from several sections of the crowd during Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League Group D clash at the Arena Khimki.

It has just been confirmed that the UEFA president Platini has now asked for an internal probe from the European governing body to determine why referee Ovidiu Hategan failed to stop the match after Toure revealed that he had made the Romanian official aware of the supposed abuse.

A statement on UEFA’s website confirmed: “Further to the opening of disciplinary proceedings against PFC CSKA Moskva following the alleged racist behaviour of some of their supporters at the UEFA Champions League match between CSKA and Manchester City FC on 23 October, UEFA President Michel Platini has requested that the UEFA administration immediately conduct an internal investigation to understand why the three-step protocol established to deal with incidents of a racist nature was not implemented.”

The protocol was introduced in order to enable referees to first off stop the matche and then request an announcement over the public address system for supporters to “immediately hold back from such racist behavior”.

If the behavior continues, the referee is required to suspend the game for “a reasonable period of time” and ask the players to head to their dressing rooms, and await an announcement.

Should that fail to stop the racist behavior, the referee then should abandon the game as a last resort.

UEFA will be revealing the possible outcome of the internal investigation on the date of October. 30th when its independent Control and Disciplinary Body has dealt with the disciplinary case against CSKA.

mesut ozil 011 300x180 Adoring Arsenal fan chants gave Ozil goose bumps

Mesut Ozil had admitted that he had goose bumps at the end of the 4-1 victory match over Norwich when he heard fans chanting his name.

Ozil scored twice in the Premier League win which leaves the Gunners sitting pretty at the top of the table.

And he had high praise for his team-mates after watching Jack Wilshere score a wonder goal with Aaron Ramsey also netting a brilliant individual effort.

He said: “It was an emotional experience for me. I had goose bumps when I heard! I’m so thankful to the fans, who have supported both myself and the whole team.

“We’re showing our thanks with our good performances on the pitch. I hope that they can continue to get behind us as they have been and I can guarantee that we will continue to play attractive football.”

Ozil, a £42.5million recruit from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day,

says Wilshere’s goal was like a strike you would in a PlayStation game.

He added: “I’ve got to praise the three players involved for the first goal. It was real ‘tiki taka’ – almost like they were playing PlayStation! It was an unbelievable goal.”

And the Germany playmaker reckons he will get better as the season progresses. He said: “I know that I can still improve but I’m happy with my display and the performance of the team. Aaron Ramsey showed that any player who comes on will do his best for the team and will get involved in tackles and attacks immediately.

“That’s why we’ve been in such good form. I’m really proud of the team. We’re taking what the manager wants us to take into games and are making strides. Now we’ve got another three points and can be pleased with that.

“Confidence is really high. We know what we can do but we won’t get carried away. It’s still very early but we know how much potential we have in the team. We just enjoy playing and it shows on the pitch. We fight for each other and we are always there for one another. That’s why we’ve been so successful.”

Nigeria vs Ethiopia 300x300 Nigera Vs Ethiopia 13.10.2013 Fifa World Cup 2014 Qualifiers

The African champions Nigeria travel to Ethiopia for the first of Sunday’s 2014 World Cup playoffs.

Nigeria played at the previous World Cup in 2010, while Ethiopia is hoping to make it through the play-offs to reach Brazil and make their first appearance at the finals.

BBC Sport Reported: “Nigeria is very experienced and have a lot of talent and skill. But even though they have those qualities, we are at a good level and we will challenge them.

“Our players are young, fresh and have played against many professional players – they have come to understand that it is man against man, and that they can beat any country if they work hard.”

A win by either side will guarantee a spot for the 2014 World football jamboree in Brazil. Under the usual good care of Stephen Keshi, the Super Eagles appear quite confident  as they will be looking forward  to the World Cup qualifying double-header. The Nigerians are ranked 36th in the world and 4th in Africa, while the Antelopes are a distant 93rd in the FIFA rankings and 25th in the continental ladder.

Be sure to watch the live match this Weekend as it takes off this Sunday at 2:00PM at the Addis Ababa Stadium in Ethiopia

Ronaldo 6 1752812a 221x300 Christiano Ronaldo Still Refusing To Reveal Whether His Yellow Card Was Intentional

Portugal’s 1-1 draw with Israel was frightening for Cristiano Ronaldo and his current team mates.

Dropping two points to a team that had little to play for thanks to an 85th minute Eden Ben Basat goal means Russia are in pole position in the group and Ronaldo failed to keep his cool throughout.

For starters, the Madrid forward could have received his marching orders with just 14 minutes to go on the clock for his threatening kick into the air.

And, there was also debates late on as Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to pick up a intentional booking in the final few seconds thereby guaranteeing a suspension for the game against Luxembourg on Tuesday that definitely looks like a dead rubber.

After the match against Israel, Ronaldo was questioned on whether he intentionally picked up the yellow card for booting the ball away under the nose of referee Tom Hagen.
