Tottenham-Arsenal is among the most anticipated encounters of any Premier League season. And considering the London derbies, it is generally more competitive than Tottenham-Chelsea. Of course, an obvious exception is when Chelsea lost 5-3 to Spurs a few weeks ago.
Back in September, neither one of these sides was even remotely close to peak form. Consequently, the result was a 1-1 stalemate at the Emirates. However, this game is almost certainly going to provide greater entertainment value.
After flitting between the ineffectual Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor, Mauricio Pochettino at last entrusted Harry Kane with league games. Although Pochettino showed faith with Kane in cup competitions, he took a little too long before finally playing him in the league.
Meanwhile, the biggest change for Arsenal has been that Arsène Wenger is finally adjusting his tactics to the opposition. For too long, Wenger would resolutely stick with short passing and an attacking style against the most difficult teams in the league. Arsenal now appear much more balanced.
Spurs have claimed 14 points from a potential 18 at White Hart Lane in their last six games. Had this game been played a few months earlier, Arsenal could have been viewed as clear favourites. Now, though, Spurs look better prepared for facing good teams.
When playing away from home, Arsenal have quietly become one of the better trams in the league. At present, they are fifth on away form. From 12 games, the Gunners have earned 18 points, winning five, drawing, three, and losing four.
From the moment that this 12.45pm game kicks off on Saturday, fans will be enthralled. Spurs can be expected to line up in Pochettino’s trusted 4-2-3-1, whereas Arsenal will likely go with 4-3-3, but with wingers supporting Giroud.
The expectation is that both teams battle closely, but Spurs could edge possession later on because of their higher fitness levels compared to Arsenal. However, that might not prevent a draw.
Tip one: Under 2.5 Goals, best odds 2.20 @ 188bet
Tip two: Draw, best odds 3.6 @ Bet365
Tip three: Draw and under 2.5 goals, best odds 7.92 @ BetVictor
The edginess of this games means that Spurs and Arsenal could cancel each other out. Combine under 2.5 goals and draw for much higher odds.
