MANCHESTER UNITED VS LEICESTER CITY – Free Tips & Preview

Manchester United find themselves on the ropes after their shocking 1-3 loss to Watford last Saturday. This is their third consecutive loss, previous ones being last week’s Derby defeat against Manchester City, followed by a Europa Cup loss to Feyenoord.

Leicester City on the other hand are seemingly bouncing back from the 1-4 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield on September 10. A 3-0 hammering of Club Brugge on their UEFA Champions Cup debut and convincing 3-0 win again, this time against Burnley in an EPL clash last Saturday, seem to have done their confidence a world of good.

Going into the 24 September clash, a main problem facing Jose Mourinho will be the total ineffectiveness of their £100m acquisition, Paul Pogba. He is not being helped in the midfield in anyway by an off-color Wayne Rooney and despite flashes of brilliance of the Ibrahimovic-Martial-Rashford combine upfront, goals have been hard to come by and that is what they will need on Saturday at Old Trafford.

Leicester City have suddenly found their scoring mojo and their top 2 men, Mahrez and Vardy have already got three goals each this season. Most satisfying for the Foxes is the superb debut form of their £29m acquisition from Sporting Lisbon, Islam Slimani, who scored twice against Burnley in his very first appearance. It will be interesting to watch how the Manchester United defense plan to cope with the Vardy-Slimani combo. Claudio Ranieri is having to do without his regular keeper, Kasper Schmeichel, but has found an exciting new prospect in the form of the 27-year old German, Ron-Robert Zieler, who has maintained  a clean sheet in his 2 appearances so far.

Despite Leicester City’s recent ascendance and United’s faltering form, the odds favor the home team. The last time Leicester won at Old Trafford was in 1997-98 and they will be hoping to emulate that performance on September 10.

As for Jose Mourinho, there will be enormous pressure on him to deliver results. He will need three points desperately on Saturday. United have slipped to the 7th position in a flash from being in the top four a week ago and now have just 9 points from their five games, six points behind contenders Manchester City.
