Liverpool FC vs Leicester City Free Tips & Match Preview

Few expect Leicester City to repeat their fairy tale of the 2015-16 season while Liverpools’ stupendous pre-season form raised hopes among fans of a bright start to their 2016-17 Premier League campaign. But as things stand both the teams under question are at only 4 points after three outings with the Foxes ahead by two places at the 9th spot on the Premier League table by virtue of a better goal average. Both Liverpool and Leicester will rue losses to much inferior opponents in the form of Burnley FC and Hull City  respectively. No one can complain of the two well-fought draws, though, a 1-1 for the Reds against Tottenham and 0-0 for Leicester against Arsenal.

For the Foxes, star of last season, Jamie Vardy, has still to find his feet as far as his scoring abilities are concerned. Daniel Drinkwater and Christian Fuchs are playing to their reasonably high standards. For Liverpool, new signing Sadio Mane has been exceptional and Philippe Coutinho has already found the back of the net twice. Adam Lallana is in top touch, too.

One area of concern for Jurgen Klopp’s men is the number of goals they have conceded, six so far, in their three Premier League outings while scoring five (4 in the match against Arsenal alone). Leicester have scored three and taken in three and their “For” & “Against” distribution isn’t as lopsided as the Reds.

Yet, when the two teams meet at Anfield on Saturday evening, odds seem to be against Claudio Raineri’s men. The home advantage coupled with better attacking options for Liverpool are seen as factors that will help the hosts to prevail. When it comes to away games, there are some interesting statistics that should give Leicester fans some hope.

In their last 20 home games, Liverpool have won 8, drawn 8 and lost and lost six. In their last 20 away games, Leicester City have won 11, drawn 6 and lost just three. But then, the Foxes will have to find last season’s form to give legitimacy to such impressive figures.  Odds clearly favor Liverpool going into the September 10th Clash, but I think the home side are a little underpriced. A better bet is to go for the low scoring option. Liverpool have only managed one goal in the last two games and Leicester recently had a 0-0 with Arsenal.
