Brighton and Hove Albion vs Stoke City – Falmer Stadium – November 20
For first-time entrants to the Premier League, Brighton & Hove Albion are having a dream season. After a disappointing start to the season, that saw them lose their 2 opening games, the Seagulls have recovered big time losing in just 2 of their 9 games following that. Among the 4 wins they have registered in the season so far, three have come against sides like Newcastle, West Bromwich and West Ham United. The one against West Ham in October was the icing on the cake, with manager Chris Hughton’s boys besting the Hammers in their own patch, 0-3. Brighton have shown versatility having performed admirably in away games too. Striker Glenn Murray, the side’s top scorer with four goals is in sublime form, getting goals in all his last three outings. Murray has been ably assisted by the likes of Tomer Hemed, Pascal Gross and Jose Izquierdo Mena upfront, all of whom will pose a threat to the Stoke City goal, when the Potters visit Falmer Stadium for their forthcoming Premier league clash on Monday night.
Playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri who had a hand in both of Stoke’s goals that helped his side hold Leicester City 2-2 last fortnight, will be a key player to watch out for in the Brighton clash. Peter Crouch has time-and-again showed that he has it in him to score late goals and the Potters will rely on him to pull something off at the Farmel. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who showed a lot of dash and enterprise in the wings in some of Stoke’s earlier games seems to have quietened down in recent outings and so has club veteran of a 100 games, mid-field playmaker Darren Fletcher. Lou Macari, the former Manchester United striker and ex-Stoke City manager has gone on record saying that the Potters will have to be at their away best on November 20 if they are to get the better of Brighton in any way.
The Seagulls are on a run of four unbeaten games since mid-October and the only match they have lost at home at the Falmer stadium was their opening Premier League fixture with leaders Manchester City. So manager Mark Hughes’s visitors really will need to be in top form to dislodge Brighton at the venue..
Stoke City are in the 14th place with 12 points and a terrible goal average of -9 that’s been undone by two massive defeats to Chelsea and Manchester City earlier in the season. Brighton are much better placed at 8th with 15 points and even a defeat to Stoke on Monday won’t see them slipping below the Top half of the EPL table.
The hosts are indeed the bookmakers’ favourites to win the November 20 clash
